We take food waste add some worms and make “Black Gold,” a rich nutritious soil.

It’s ideal for farms, roof-top gardens and raised-bed gardens in inner-city neighborhoods where people are who are concerned about digging in the ground.  This is the soil in which we grow our vegetables.

We also offer it for sale.

Vermiculture is the process of creating extremely rich compost by giving fruit and vegetable “garbage” to earthworms. The worms then digest the produce, and their “castings” become a rich fertilizer, or concentrated potting soil.

Rid-All operates and maintains an EPA certified Class II Compost Facility.  This designation allows for us to collect and process solid waste such as food scraps, agricultural waste, yard waste, and approved alternative materials.  These materials are converted into our high quality “Black Gold” Compost Soil.

These activities are also very helpful to our environment because it allow for us to divert large amounts of food waste and other materials from local land fills.  Grocery stores and other food waste generators send a significant amount of waste to landfills. Some studies suggest up to 80% of a grocery store’s waste stream is comprised of food waste, while approximately 50% of all food waste generated in the United States comes from businesses that handle food.
